P

resident Prabowo Subianto reiterated that Indonesia remained committed to supporting the struggle of the Palestinian people, emphasizing that this policy stance was rooted in the spirit of fraternity and solidarity, during a phone call with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Monday evening.

“President Mahmoud Abbas explained the latest developments in Palestine and [expressed] appreciation for Indonesia’s support for the people of Palestine,” Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said in a statement on June 15.

Teddy said Abbas also expressed a hope that Indonesia would continue to play an active role in supporting the Palestinian cause amid shifting global dynamics.

“According to President Abbas, the voice and leadership of Indonesia under President Prabowo is important and has received widespread attention in various international forums,” the cabinet secretary said.

He also highlighted that Prabowo had consistently demonstrated support for Palestine, including during his tenure as defense minister in 2019-2024.

Among these efforts were the delivery of humanitarian and logistical aid by air and sea, the deployment of a hospital ship and health workers and Defense University (Unhan) scholarships for around 100 Palestinian students, Teddy’s statement said.

He also highlighted Indonesia’s firm advocacy for Palestine in international forums and the President’s steadfast encouragement for the realization of a just and dignified peace for Palestinians.
