tate-owned energy giant Pertamina said that its tanker Gamsunoro had successfully transited the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday, while another vessel Pertamina Pride remained stranded on the opposite side awaiting further movement instructions.
Both vessels have been stuck in the Arabian Gulf since early March due to the ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran.
Vega Pita, acting corporate secretary of Pertamina's shipping subsidiary PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS), said the vessel departed the Arabian Gulf at 1:06 a.m. Dubai time (4:06 a.m. Western Indonesian Time) at a speed of 7.5 knots. It reached the Strait of Hormuz at around 1:00 p.m. local time and was declared safe four hours later.
"This decision was based on a rigorous risk assessment and close coordination with the Foreign Ministry and the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran," Vega said on Thursday.
"The vessel had to meet dozens of requirements covering insurance, technical and operational matters, security and crew readiness."
The vessel was continuously monitored throughout the voyage, with the crew coordinating in real time with the company's onshore crisis center.
PIS said it continues coordinating with relevant authorities to monitor developments and ensure that operational decisions are made prudently during the process.
