T Pertamina Patra Niaga, the commercial and trading arm of state energy giant Pertamina, has raised the prices of its nonsubsidized fuels by around 32 percent, with RON-92 Pertamax increasing from Rp 12,300 to Rp 16,250 (US$0.68 to $0.9) per liter, and RON-95 Pertamax Green from Rp 12,900 to Rp 17,000 per liter.
Prices for subsidized Pertalite and Biosolar, however, remain unchanged.
The sharp increases, effective on Wednesday, follow a periodic evaluation conducted in coordination with the government, taking into account recent volatility in global crude oil prices and prevailing economic market conditions.
“The price adjustments for Pertamax and Pertamax Green were made after an evaluation process in accordance with the pricing formula set by the government,” Roberth MV Dumatubun, PT Pertamina Patra Niaga corporate secretary, said in a statement issued late Tuesday.
He emphasized that the decision aims to balance business continuity, service quality and the certainty of energy supply for the public.
“We ensure that the supply of Pertamax and Pertamax Green remains secure and available at Pertamina’s gas station network,” Roberth said.
